Well we got a good start
When my mom was up visiting in December she told me that one of the things that her Mom use to do that made her mad was that she would say "Well we got a good start" upon discovering a few dirty dishes after they had finished washing a big bunch of dishes. There is no dishwasher in this house so I've been doing lots of dish washing and it is different than having a dishwasher in that once you've drained your water it isn't so easy to wash a stray dish so there is almost always a starter batch of dishes waiting on the counter. Now whenever this happens I think of my Mom and my Grandma and say to myself "Well we got a good start"!

I hate washing those damn dishes! Although even with a dish washer, I tend to hand wash something nearly every day. It's just nice to be able to get it out of the way in the dishwasher so you don't have to look at them!
