San Fransisco Bans Plastic Bags

But do not fear residents of the shakey city will be provided with bags made from corn or potato starch and will not be forced to carry cloth bags with them everywhere like the residents of the itty bitty town in Manitoba that banned plastic bags.

Here's the only Canadian source of these bags I could find. Pretty pricey too.

I hate those plastic bags. I think they multiply when they get together.

Very cool. Who knew? Couldn't this become a project for the farmers as well...grow hemp or canola or flax or something and make bags in the province? If we can land biodiesel why not bio-bags?
Oh, the knitting continues...my mom crocheted a shopping bag and purse out of cut up grocery bags. I have a friend who's grandma has people all over the country sending her their grocery bags and she knits/crochets them into shopping bags and throw rugs.
